Chantalle Cattery is a small cattery located in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, which began in 1987 with the purchase of a single Sable Burmese female from Kitchin Cattery of Plaistow, NH. I named this kitten, Kitchin's Tasha Go-Lightly and for approximately 8 years Tasha had a yearly litter producing an average of 4 kittens each year.
At some point in the mid-1990's I became interested in showing Burmese cats and patiently waited for Tasha to produce a female show kitten so that I could continue breeding and also start to become more involved in showing. By the time Tasha was 9 in 1996, I decided that I should keep a female kitten no matter what it looked like since Tasha was becoming too old to have babies. So, from her very next and last litter, there was one female, which I did keep and name Giselle.
Giselle didn't turn out to be a show kitty, and in fact, never did make it to a single show, however, she did produce my very first Grand Champion, Chantalle's Savannah Brown and more importantly, she continues her mother's tradition of producing a litter of kittens each year with the wonderful Burmese temperament.
Such was the very small and slow start of Chantalle Cattery. Today, Chantalle Cattery has grown to include a number of female and male cats. (You can read about each cat in the Meet the Chantalle Burmese section.) Though Chantalle Cattery has grown some in the last few years, I still strive to remain small as each cat is first and foremost my pet.
In addition to breeding Burmese cats, I also breed Bombays. I attend CFA cat shows on a regular basis and am a member of the CFA Burmese Breed Council, the CFA Bombay Breed Council and the National Alliance of Burmese Breeders (NABB).
